How a bootloader tell a NOR flash has either a bottom or top boot block?

I am using VC5505 and the recommended NOR flash mx29LV160 (in VC5505 bootloader reference guide).  However, mx29LV160 only support cfi 1.0 version, which cannot specifiy boot block  location(bottom or top) explicityly. My question how the 5505 boot loader identifes the boot block location of the flash device? Or it will try both of them?

Thanks,
