How to set h.264 encoder parameters using DMAI

I'm using DMAI to work with H.264 encoder and I need to set h.264 parameters (e.g. ProfileIDC=66, LevelIDC=41) before start of encode.

Encoder is created using Venc1_create.

How to pass detailed parameters to the specific encoder using DMAI.

It appears these fields are part of IH264VENC_Params which inherit from IVIDENC1_Params, therefore you would set this via the Venc1_create function via VIDENC1_Params argument. At least that would be my guess from briefly looking at the code.

What I found in the "dm365_codecs_01_10_production/packages/ti/sdo/codecs/h264enc/ih264venc.h" is:

typedef struct IH264VENC_Params
{

IVIDENC1_Params videncParams;
XDAS_Int32 profileIdc;     /*!< profile idc */
XDAS_Int32 levelIdc;       /*!< level idc */
XDAS_Int32 entropyMode;    /*!< entropy mode flag 0-CAVLC, 1-CABAC */

...

}

And DMAI works only with the parameter of type IVIDENC1_Params inside above structure. But I would like to change profileIdc, levelIdc..., that is outside of scope IVIDENC1_Params.

How to set the profileIdc from DMAI (e.g. to Baseline 66)?

as near as I can tell, you need to include that header file (dm365_codecs_01_10_production/packages/ti/sdo/codecs/h264enc/ih264venc.h) in your DMAI application, define a variable such as H264VENC_Params h264params, ans set your desired parameters. Be sure to typecast it to VIDENC1_params when passing it to Videnc1_create, which should work since you are really passing a pointer. Also do not forget to include the default values for VIDENC1_params in your h264params variable.

Chris and Juan,

Based on Your suggestions, I created the extended structure IH264VENC_Params, copy the original VIDENC1_Params structure into the extended structure and set all requred params (e.g. profileIdc). Now it works with Baseline profile.

Thank You for detailed explanation. I was not familiar with extending parameters scenario. You are the best support I've met.
