I should use DSP in new project, but do not have experience of DSP.
I am confused about unit of FLOPS.
Please let me know answer of below questions or any related site.

I read datasheet that FLOPS of tms320c6671 is 20GFLOPS at 1.25GHz.
I think that 6671 have eight functional units which each can execute one instruction per clock cycle, so FLOPs should be 10GFLOPS (8 x 1.25G).
What is FLOPS and how calculate flops of 6671 as 20Gflops?

How I can estimate FLOPS in my application?
Is the result of estimation same meaning with FLOPS of 6671?
If my application is required 8GFLOPS, can I use 6671?
