Hello,

I want to connect a sensor to the AM3359 IDK over SPI. For the connection I used the SPI-Pins from the Test Header J29 on the Daughterboard of the idk. That was the only connector for SPI I found in the datasheet of the board. I cannot communicate with the sensor. I have searched already the forum and the documents on the web, but found nothing.

My question is: Are these the right Pins to connect an external device to the board over SPI?

Hi Markus,

These SPI signals go to a CPLD on the daughterboard. You will need to trace signals on the IDK schematics to find the place that works for you. Schematics can be found here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_IndustrialDevelopmentKit_EVM_Board_Design_Files

thanks for your reply. I have traced the signals on the schematics, but the pins did not work. I don't know what to do next.

Please could you tell me which pins I need to connect for SPI?

I've traced the following signals:

AM335X_SPI0_SCLK, AM335X_SPI0_D0, AM335X_SPI0_D1, AM335X_SPI0_CS0, AM335X_SPI0_CS1

The pins I found are on the Expansion Connector - EXP0 J3 (25,26) and the Expansion Connector - EXP2 J5 (13,15,17) on the baseboard.

Are these pins right?

Hi Markus,

The pins are:

EXP0 J3 pin 23 - AM335X_SPI0_D1

EXP0 J3 pin 24 - AM335X_SPI0_CS0

EXP2 J5 pin 13 - AM335X_SPI0_SCLK

EXP2 J5 pin 15 - AM335X_SPI0_D0

EXP2 J5 pin 17 - AM335X_SPI0_CS1

In order to use these signals the daughterboard will need to be removed. Furthermore J3 pins will probably need to be pinmuxed to their SPI function, because they are marked as being used in their I2C1 mode on the schematics. I don't know what software you are using. I also don't know if this software will work directly if the daughterboard is disconnected.

Thank you for the answer.

I try to write a software with Code Composer Studio v5 that read out the sensor data.

Now I've removed the daughterboard from the baseboard. For debugging I need to use the RS-232 (J12). Before that I used the UART3 on the daughterboard.

My question is: How can I use the J12 on the baseboard?

I've found nothing in the documentation.

You will need to place 0Ohm resistors on R361 to R364.
