PC enumerate DSP 6678

Hi Aichen,

LTSSM_EN bit is only used to start the link up training. It is a excepted behavior(after PC enumeration).

From my view, if the LTSSM_EN bit is always 0, the link can never be set up. Do I understand correctly?

Yes, your understanding is correct.

Have you modified the TI provide IBL source code?

In IBL source code "iblPCIeWorkaround()" will set the LTSSM_EN = 1;

DEVICE_REG32_W ((PCIE_BASE_ADDR + PCIE_APP_CMD_STATUS), 0x0000007);    /* enable LTSSM, IN, OB */

Please refer c66xinit.c file in IBL source code.

I did not modify any code until the board cannot be enumerated.

So I added some code

Check the LTSSM current state(LSSM_STATE) value of register DEBUG0 (Please see Appendix A.1 for the names of the LTSSM states corresponding to the encoded values on PCIe User Guide).

Please try another PC to test the same setup.

Please provide the following information:

1. Host system(PC) Configuration? OS, core, ..

2. EVM Boot mode switch settings?

The value of LTSSM is 0x00, and the LTSSM_EN is 0.

1.The OS of host is XP and the core is Lenovo Q77

2.The EVM6678 boot mode swith setting is :

  sw3(off,off,on,off);

  sw4(on,on,on,on);

 sw5(on,on,on,off);

sw6(on,on,on,on);

What Boot mode selected on your EVM? I2C POST Boot or ROM PCIe Boot

My understanding, your boot mode switch setting is not correct. please refer the below wiki link to select the boot mode

I use IBL NOR boot on image 0  mode, which can work in another PC. It fails when plugged into Lenovo Q77.

When I use PCIe mode, the PC cannot work.

The Keystone I (6657/6670/6678) EVM is an AMC form factor card which provides multiple connectivity options for inter-connection with various systems, primarily for Telecom. In addition, it can be connected to a standard PCIE slot via an AMC to PCIE adaptor card. The manufacturer had tested the adaptor card with multiple platforms, however the adaptor card is not designed for 100% PCIe compatibility. The most significant compatibility issue is lack of PCIe Reset control on adaptor card. The PCIe Reset is not propagated to the SOC.  This can cause enumeration issues or boot-up issues.

Could you please check the PCB version of the PCIe adapter card? Is it 17/18-00107-02 or 17/18-00107-03?

If it is “02”, there is an issue with some newer PC. It will cause PC fail to boot-up. To verify this, simple put the adaptor card into the PCIe slot WITHOUT DSP card assembled, and just turn the PC on, can the PC boot-up normally?

If PC is still not responding, could you please try another different PC please?

The problem is the same card without any changes works on on PC but another one.

Is there any solution for AMC adaptor since PCIe Reset is not propagated to the SOC? Our final PC cannot be changed which the EVM 6678 is not enumerated.

You need to put boot mode into PCIE boot mode instead of NOR boot, I don't understand what the issue that PC doesn't work. I thought you tried at least two PCs, in PCIE boot mode, what happened?

1.In my mind, the PC can enumerate the EVM6678 as long as the PCIE has been configured. Is this true?

2. I try two PCs, which one can enumerate EVM6678, the other cannot.

3.I search some posts with the same sutiation, and someone said the AMC dose not use PERST#, dose this matter? Why dose AMC need to use this signal?
