AM3517 general questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3517

Hi,

Few general questions on AM3517:

1. Based on table 3-2, the power consumption for the chip is 1500mA * 1.2V = 1.8W; but based on table 5-2, the power consumption for the chip is 60mA * 1.8V = 108mW. So, which one of them is the realistic one for total core power consumption?

2. When did AM3517 chip came out for full-production?

Thanks!

Stephen

  • Stephen,

Table 5-2 refers to the DAC power supply only.  Table 3-2 gives current consumption information for the various different power rails.  Based on the current data sheet, the MAX spec for the core 1.2v rail is 1500 mA as you state above.  Keep in mind that this is the MAX across spec for this device.

The AM3517 will go to production by end of 1Q2010...so, very soon.

  • 1500mA * 1.2V = 1.8W (for max power consumption across spec). This number seems too high because it's the max value across spec. Is there a reasonable way to represent this chip's core power consumption at the typical condition (instead of the max)? Thanks!

  • Does TI has any updated power consumption (at typical value) for AM3517?  Not sure if this part went to production yet, or not....

    Please advise. Thanks.

  • Logic PD release their new Wattson software for the AM3517 EVM today which will help you see actual power consumption across all power rails on the CPU and SOM design.  There is an adapter required to connect to the PC available from this website: http://createnewstuff.webs.com/breakoutboardwattson.htm
