AM1808 going forward?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1808, AM3352

We’ve started working on our AM1808 based project again.  A concern though, is that new SDKs seem to have stopped for the AM1808.  Toolchain for the AM1808 was last updated in 2011.  It looks like new Kernels support the AM1808, though.

It looks like everything is moving to the Cortex family and we are wondering if we should do the same for our project?   Realistically, we won’t have this product out until 9 months to a year from now, and obviously needs to last years.

Should we look at moving from the AM1808 to a comparable Cortex version, so we are not stuck with a lack of support in the future?

 Please let me know.

  • Thanks for asking. We have no plans to obsolete AM18xx family and as you noted, there are new cores available.

I would recommend to you to check AM335x family that has more peripherals and performance than AM18xx at comparable price point.
