OMAP4430 Onboard Temperature Sensor

I am working with an OMAP4430 design and hear the internal temperature sensor is non-functional on this chip, but is functional on OMAP4460 and OMAP4470 parts.

Is this correct, and if so is there any elaboration on the issue or plans to revise the OMAP4430 to enable the sensor?

  • Hi Zachary,

I checked the available documentation for OMAP4430 device. There is NO mention that the internal temperature sensor, described in section 18.4.10 Band Gap Voltage and Temperature Sensor in Control Module chapter (CH18), is non-functional. You can check the bug report - OMAP4430 Errata Document: http://www.ti.com/lit/er/swpz009q/swpz009q.pdf .

As I said the BGAP & Temperature Sensor in OMAP4430 silicon is described (functionality & registers for SW control) in section 18.4.10 Band Gap Voltage and Temperature Sensor of device TRM.

    As for your next question

"is there any elaboration on the issue or plans to revise the OMAP4430 to enable the sensor"

There are no plans for future silicon revisions of the OMAP4 devices.

    Best Regards,

    Yordan
