OMAP 5432 features

Hello,

I am trying to find out the following information about TI OMAP 5432 SoC. Can someone please help?

1. does the MIPI-DSI block in OMAP 5 have Full HD capability?
2. What clock frequency and frame rate (60Hz or 30Hz) is supported on MIPI-DSI on OMAP 5?
3. Is the EVM kit for OMAP 5 open source like OMAP4 based panda board? Would I be able to get the board schematics and designs files that we can leverage for our design. What kind of licensing will be involved, if any?
Thanks!
  • Hello Taif,

    About your questions:

#Q1. Does the MIPI-DSI block in OMAP 5 have Full HD capability?

    - Yes, the MIPI-DSI in OMAP5 supports FULL HD.  High Definition, often used in the context of video to refer to the number of pixels per frame horizontally and vertically; 1920x1080 (full-HD).

It is recommended to set pixel packet size to a full line of pixels, in order to exploit the ping-pong mechanism of the double line buffer (1920 pixel wide) and get the optimal performance.

For more information see section 10.3.1 DSI Overview in OMAP5 TRM.

#Q2. What clock frequency and frame rate (60Hz or 30Hz) is supported on MIPI-DSI on OMAP 5?

MIPI-DSI support (up to four data lanes and one clock lane). Maximum data rate of 1256 Mbps per data pair for four-data lane configuration (627.75MHzat OPP_NOM.)

Using 4 lanes of DSI, the resolutions supported at 60 Hz are given for maximum bitrate per lane. For example: 1920x1200 (blanking VESA) 24bit/pix

Connection to the DSI_PHY_DSS_x DSI PHY through PPI (MIPI D-PHY Specification v1.01.00
    Revision 0.02 compliant)

#Q3. Is the EVM kit for OMAP 5 open source like OMAP4 based panda board? Would I be able to get the board schematics and designs files that we can leverage for our design. What kind of licensing will be involved, if any?

    - The schematics and design files for OMAP5 uEVM are not available in comparison with the OMAP4 PandaBoard ones.

You need for NDA agreement with TI to access these files, however SVTronics designed OMAP5 uEVM. For more information about OMAP5 uEVM refer to following link
