Enabling Logs

Sunny Verma

I changed BIOS.logEnabled = false to BIOS.logsEnabled = true in file test_txrx_cla_upp.cfg to see the logs.
I saved my changes, build the project, put the code on DSP but now i want to see those logs. so
Where should i go to see these logs or where these logs are stored ?

Hi Sunny,

Sorry for the late reply. Can I see what you have in that .cfg file? Setting BIOS.logsEnabled to true doesn't automatically set everything. You have to pick the logger module and set the buffer that the logs will be printed to. This will let you know where to look for the prints. Also what version of TI-RTOS or SYS/BIOS are you using?

I cannot show you the .cfg file because its my company's file. Could you give me any link or suggestion where i can read about enabling log and try to do it myself ?

What exactly you want to see in .cfg file ?

i am using Sys/bios version 6.35.4.50

To understand how Logs work, I'll recommend reading the following rtscpedia articles:

Also, SYS/BIOS ships a Log Example that shows how to setup Logs. You can find it in the TI Resource Explorer in CCS. Take the look the cfg file of that example and see what it does. Note that there is no BIOS.logsEnabled = true in that example as by default, BIOS.logsEnabled is already set to true.

Well that gave me a little bit more idea but i cannot read whole thing.
Here is exactly what i wanted :-

I am using HeapBuf and HeapMultiBuf. I want to see the logs each and every time whenever i am allocating the packet in them or freeing them.

None of heap modules have built-in logging but there are other ways you can keep track of heap usage. You can write your own wrapper functions for the Heap alloc function and free function that implement logging. In this case, your application calls the wrapper function which performs the logging and then calls the Heap modules alloc.

Also there is another module Heaptrack that you can use to manage the heap with built in functions(not logs) to print heap stats and usage. You can read more about it here:
