Both solutions are supported. There are trade-offs associated with each of them. The digital based solution can give you visibility into your power usage using the fusion software tool. The analog solution can be slightly easier to implement and provides more choices in the power stage selection. You may be able to tailor the power solution to more closely match you implementation. You'll have to decide what is best for your design.
