interfacing two audio inputs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320VC5505

Pins 13,14 (in1_l,in1_r) and pins 20,21(in3_l,in3_r) od AIC3204 codec is not brought out in TMS320VC5505 eZdsp. Is there a way to interface two analog inputs with this board? I have one FM receiver, whose output can go into the line-in provided in the evm. I need to interface another microphone. Is it possible?

  • Hi Rijurekha,

The eZdsp is limited to one stereo input jack. As you mentioned, the codec supports three stereo inputs, but the pins for in_1, and in_3 are not connected. You have a few options:

    1)      You could solder your own audio jack circuit to either of these two available inputs. See page 7 of the eZdsp schematic to copy the stereo audio jack circuit.

    2)      You could input the FM signal in mono-mode on either just the Left or Right channel, and input the microphone input on the other channel. You will likely need to amplify the Microphone input but not the FM input.

    3)      The C5505EVM offers two stereo input jacks to the codec and two microphone inputs. (See page 14 of the EVM5505 schematic)

Finally, here is a link to the AIC3204 Stereo Codec Datasheet.

Please let us know if this answers your question.

    Hope this helps,

    Mark

  • Hi Mark, thanks for the reply.  I have already started working on option 2). I am trying to find a connector with two mono inputs and one stereo output. Will get back if any new issue arises. Thanks a lot.
