Using OMAP-L138 single UPP channel while selecting dual channel mode.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138

We would like to use UPP channel A in 16-bit mode, but we have limited pins available in our application.  Our existing OMAP-L138 pin usage only gives us access to UPP channel A control signals plus UPP DATA[7:0] and XDATA[7:0].  According to the TRM, the XDATA pins are only available when using UPP dual channel mode (see table 33-3 below).  Is it possible to use the highlighted configuration (CHN=1, IWA=1, IWB=0) to gain access to full 16-bit bus on channel A even though channel B is not used in the application?  The pin multiplexing for channel B control signals would be configured for other, non-UPP functions.

  • Hi rperezti,

Is it possible to use the highlighted configuration (CHN=1, IWA=1, IWB=0) to gain access to full 16-bit bus on channel A even though channel B is not used in the application?

    No, you can't.

If you want dual channel configuration then both CHA and CHB are in active state so, as per table 33-3 you can't do the required configuration.

    Please refer the UPCTL register.
