AM335X: GPIO maximum current

After searching trough TRM without success I have to aks this question here: what is the maximum current one can pull out of an GPIO pin of AM3358? And is there a short-circuit protection on these pins or does the GPIO/the CPU die when somebody pulls out too much?

Our hardware engineer is currently on vacation, but please check table 2-7 from the am335x datasheet for the information you seek.

If grounded GPIO pin is set to output high level, the processor can burn from overheating. Tried. Works :(

Hi Miroslav,

In my AM335x.pdf datasheet, chapter 2 is Revision History. Therefore, table 2-7 does not exist.
I've browsed through the entire document, and I can not find any information regarding GPIO maximum output, but I'm pretty sure I just keep missing it.
I always like datasheets having this information in the pin-table: pin, function, maximum ratings... Might be a suggestion for future revisions ;)

You are posting on a thread that's been closed for 3 years now. Current AM335x Datasheet Revision is J. You should look in section 5.7. You will see that pin min./max. output voltages are specified at certain output currents. These are the maximum pin currents.
