DM8168 WebM Support

Hi Team

One of the specifications on the iVDO Broadcaster is the support of WebM algorithm.  I looked at the our web site and it mentioned about OMAP processor.  Can WebM also supported by the DM8168?  Is the WebM supported by a third party company?

Best regards,

Max

  • Max,

I found WebM is supported for OMAP4:

I also found WebM is supported for Sitara devices under Android:

I also found WebM is not supported for DM816x/AM389x device:

  • You're stuck with the codecs that TI provides you with I'm afraid which means no WebM. I think you just get H264 and MPEG2.

  • I too am curious about Max's question. I'm not so familiar with the video encoding accelerator on Davinci, but is it possible to manually configure the encoding block? Any third party that would have experience with such a thing?

  • You need to be one of the special partners to get access to the source code and documentation for the HDVICP coprocessors that do all the hard work for codecs. Ittiam might be worth a look.
