DM365 multiple channel frame size / rate -- is this possible?

http://wiki.davincidsp.com/index.php/DM365_Codec_Availability_Schedule lists the following modes:

H.264 HP Encode (standard quality) 2 x D1@30fps 270MHz
H.264 HP Encode (standard quality) 8 x CIF@30fps 300MHz

If I can do 2 x D1@30fps, does this mean that I can also do 4 x D1@15fps ?

How strict is this channel / size / frame rate matrix?

Best Regards,

Mark Deneen

  • Hi Mark,

The performance of the encoder almost scales linearly. But when you increase the number of channels, the switching time for each channel of encoding reduces the performance. Due to these multiple switches, you might be getting a lower fps as compared to 15fps for 4CH.

My best bet would be around 12-13 fps for 4CH D1, assuming no significant system load.
