we are planing to design custom board using DM8168.

Can you please some basic information like

1. Maximum How many 16-bit HD cameras we can use simultaneously to capture video?

2. Maximum How many 24-bit HD cameras we can use simultaneously to capture video?

3. Maximum Howmany 8-bit SD cameras we can use simultaneously to capture video ?

Hi,

Thanks for information.

You said It can support two 24-bit HD cameras. Then It can support three 16-bit HD cameras . Right?

8-bit SD cameras 6 or 16?

No, only 2 x 24 bit.

16 SD channels are supported using 4 interleaved streams on each of the 4 x 8 bit ports.

Hellow,

According to datasheet of TMS320DM8168, The Available video input pins are

VIN[0]A_D[23:0] and VIN[1]A_D[15:0] pins only.

So, It can support two-16 bit channels.

How it can support 2 X 24 bit and 16 SD channels?

It cannot support all modes at the same time.

The 24 bit port can support the following...

1xRGB24 or 1xYUV24 or 1xYUV422 or 2xSD non interleaved or 4xSD interleaved or 8xSD interleaved

The 16 bit port can support the following...

1xYUV422 or 2xSD non interleaved or 4xSD interleaved or 8xSD interleaved

Just to add, My previous comments are for the VIP video ports which use the VPSS (Video Processing Sub-System). You can use the camera input ports (ISS, Imaging Sub-System) but the processing available is completely different on this port. Please refer to the datasheet and/or TRM for more information on the features of each port type.

What exactly are you trying to support?
