However, just to be clear, the c6 SDK would not be compatible with the mcsdk which is what TI directs new users to, would it?

The face-detect demo turns out to be entirely on the DSP. I am looking for demo code that has some interaction between a program on the ARM and one on the DSP. Strangely, the demo programs with the c6sdk, other than the face-detect one, do not have source code.

The MCSDK 1.01 comprises the PDK ( CSL ) examples to run on DSP and Davinci PSP Linux to run on ARM.

If you are looking for examples which uses both the DSP and ARM core, then you have to choose the IPC (INter-Processor Communication)  examples given in OMAPl138 starterware package. And, this IPC examples are not given in MCSDK 1.1 package.

Once you install the OMAPl138 Starterware package, you will find three IPC examples and the Source code will be found at  path, :-

"..\ti\OMAPL138_StarterWare_1_10_03_03\examples\lcdkOMAPL138\ipc_buffer_io"

"..\ti\OMAPL138_StarterWare_1_10_03_03\examples\lcdkOMAPL138\ipc_interrupt"

Could you give me a link to that particular starterware package, please? There is a baffling amount of stuff of different generations that is out there; I would like to get the exact one that you are recommending.

I looked at those examples. Ok, it is starterware, does not rely on any OS.

What I am really looking for is a small program that runs on the ARM under Linux and interacts with a program on the DSP.. So it would go through Linux device drivers, and save me working all that out somehow. Do you have any examples programs that do that, or any other helpful tutorial material on that subject?

You answered my question and now I am trying to build the syslink library etc. You guys really need help with makefiles. for instance you have lines like this:

-include $(SYSLINK_ROOT)/ti/syslink/buildutils/hlos/usr/Makefile.inc (syslink_2_21_03_11/packages/ti/syslink/utils/hlos/usr/Linux/Makefile)

It is crucial for the Makefile.inc to be included but the -include directive means to give no warning if it is not found. It should say

include ...

There are lots of other things that are very substandard. TI does not have any corporate memory of how to do makefiles. You have been promoting "projects" in code composer.

This is not just a complaint. I am wiling to help.
