According to latest AM1808 Errata Sheet currently available (SPRZ313G) there are no issues corrected in Silicon Revision 2.3 compared to 2.1. Section 3.2 "Silicon Revision 2.1 Known Design Exceptions to Functional Specifications" doesn't contain "Silicon Revision 2.1 Advisory List " and states that "Silicon revision 2.1 applicable advisories have been found on a later silicon revision."

At least two points seem doubtful:
1) Advisory 2.1.12 (BOOT: IPU Resistors for BOOT[7:0] Pins Are Sometimes Enabled During Reset...) listed in Silicon Revision 2.3 Advisory List is marked as "2.1 and earlier" at page 27
2) Advisory 2.1.10 (USB0 PLL Mean Frequency Can Drift Across Large Temperature Swings) is also listed in Silicon Revision 2.3 Advisory List. This issue is already corrected in rev 2.3 for e.g. OMAP-L138E and TMS320C6748E.

Is there any difference in functionality and/or characteristics between AM1808E (rev 2.3) and AM1808B (rev 2.1)?

Hi Senthil,

Advisory 2.1.12 (BOOT: IPU Resistors...) haven't been fixed yet for OMAP-L138E and TMS320C6748E revisions 2.3 as per corresponding errarta sheets (adv. 2.3.23 in these cases). Would you confirm that the advisory 2.1.12 is really fixed for AM1808E?

For OMAPL138 Rev E and AM1808 Rev E (rev 2.3) the USB PLL advisory that was present in rev 2.1 is fixed and does not apply any more.

The boot pin issue was not fixed and still applies to rev 2.3 silicon. Essentially the only errata that got fixed going from rev 2.1 to rev 2.3 is the USB PLL issue.

Yes, USB PLL Issue on rev 2.1 is fixed i rev2.3. Please note that current AM1808 errata does not reflect this correctly but is being fixed and the updated errata should be on the web in coming weeks.

could we get a quick confirmation from you?

The OMAP-L138 boot mode - SPRAB41E (from January 2014) Appendix E does not list any changes in the ROM bootloader so I guess that no ROM changes were made from rev 2.1 to rev 2.3.
Correct?

I am being told by the distributor that AM1808BZWT3 can no longer be purchased. None of the online distributors has stock and TI is not offering samples on their webpage of AM1808EZWT3. The TI webpage lists one distributor with stock of AM1808EZWT3. My intent was to purchase some AM1808EZWT3 parts from this distributor for qualification however I was sent AM1808BZWT3 parts. Where can I get AM1808EZWT3 parts for qualification?

Thank you for responding. Regarding Newark having stock of AM1808EZWT3, things are not as they appear. Newark is the distributor from which I attempted to purchase AM1808EZWT3 parts and was sent AM1808BZWT3 parts. Currently I am attempting settle the issue with Newark, however they do not have AM1808EZWT3 parts in stock and will send AM1808BEZWT3 parts if anyone orders from the AM1808EZWT3 page.

Do you have any recommendations regarding how to procure samples of AM1808EZWT3 for qualification?

if you ordered specifically the "E" (rev 2.3) version, you should not accept the "B" version. I am passing this into to our marketing manager responsible for our distributors to check what is happening there....

I ordered AM1808EZWT3. The link a few posts above also references the "E" part. The package I receive has AM1808EZWT3 on the outside label, however the components inside are marked AM1808BZWT3. I have open a dialog with Newark to get the issue corrected. Currently Newark is investigating the issue.

I explained to Newark that AM1808BZWT3 and AM1808EZWT3 are not the same component.

basically they are the same, just rev 2.3 (E) fixed a bug that was present in the previous version and most of the custromers never had issue with it.

B - rev 2.1

E - rev 2.3

anyway, our team is checking with dist what happened...

Hi Mukul,

What are the differences between Rev B (rev 2.1) and Rev E (rev 2.3)? Are there the differences other than the USB PLL issue?

Is the change of a board design and/or a software needed to replace Rev B (rev 2.1) with Rev E (rev 2.3)? USB detection issue occurs on our customer board by having replaced it.

No difference in hardware/software , and the part should be drop in replace.

Please have the customer look at the Product Change Notification too, in case they have any concerns around this.
