OpenCV on Omap-l138 cross-compilation and build to linux filesystem

Hi All,

Currently I am working on a project which requires OpenCV to be build for Omap-l138 in Linux File System for real time Image Processing Application.

Can anybody tell me how to compile the OpenCV based code for Omap-l138 and load it to file system in Linux in Omap-l138 LCDK board?

And another question is why TI doesn't support OpenCV for Omap-l138 and onlly supports Da-vinci series Video processors?

Hi Vivek,

If you have armv5 filesystem arch which supports opencv then you can use this for OMAPL138 board too.

Already I have built the rootfs with opencv support (not tested) through online filesystem builder (angstrom)

Here, you have to mention board type and package which you required.

Also, please refer the following TI wiki which support for cortex-A8 device but try for OMAPL138 with providing armv5 toolchain information when you build.

Thanks for your Help.I have built the rootfs with angstrom.

As OpenCV is built with the filesystem ,When writing code,Do I have to switch to DSP core of Omap-l138 while calling OpenCV functions by using some instructions or Linux will automatically switch to DSP core while executing OpenCV functions?

Hi Vivek,

No, it wont run the opencv apps in DSP core until unless you command DSP core to do so through IPC/SYSLINK interfaces.

Currently, ARM core alone would support for opencv applications.

The current situation is, I have built the OpenCV with codesourcery toolchain as described in the Wiki http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Building_OpenCV_for_ARM_Cortex-A8

Now I want to cross compile with codesourcery & port c++ code with openCV developed on Host Ubuntu 10.04 to OMAP-l138 LCDK board.

Please tell me the procedure for that.

And I have a question that, does Codesourcery supports syslink software?If yes then how to integrate them?
