DM8148 DVI capture support

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP7002, TFP401, TFP501

Hi Folks,

Does the EZSDK/any TI  release support capture form DVI ?

Thanks,

  • Hi,

Basically you need a video decoder(or Converter) to convert DVI to 16bit ES/DS interface.

Then the question is 'Does DM814x support such interface'

Refer to TVP7002 driver or similar drivers.

  • Hi Eason,

But the DM8148 EVM (from Mistral) has HDMI input (which says DVI J7) port but doesn’t have a decoder chip for it ?

  • The EVM does not have HDMI/DVI in. Are you looking at the video conferencing daughter card?

For DVI you need to use RGB24 bit. As Eason mentions the TVP7002 driver can be used as a starting point for the VIP configuration. Something like the TI TFP401/3 will work.

If you need HDCP then you will need something like the TI TFP501.

If you need HDMI modes (different color spaces, audio etc...) then you will need to use a receiver from another company since TI does not have any HDMI receivers.

I do not believe TI has any HDCP software available and this will be receiver specific. You will also need to be a HDCP and HDMI licensee to gain access to any code, documentation or devices that contain HDCP.
