Hello,

I'm trying to check the DSP clock rate on the OMAP3530 EVM.

1) Where in the board I can check the clock of the DSP (C64x+) like test point?

2) How Can I control this clock, is there a software PLL I need to init or is it controled by external pins ?

3) Where in the tcf file I should write the correct clock speed to get correct results from CpuLoad and other DSP/BIOS functions that rely on this number.

Hi Yehuda,

1) There is no test point which gives the DSP clock directly. The closet thing is J1 on the processor module which gives the 26MHz clock.

2) The 3530 data sheet Sec 4.3, and 3530 TRM Sec 4.12, have details on programming the IVA2 (DSP) clock.

3) I'm not familiar with the tcf file. I hope someone else can comment on this.

Code Composer v3.3 includes a GEL file (omap3530_cortexA.gel) which can used to control the IVA2 module clock.

My target is to configure the EVM to its maximum clock speed. According to the OMAP3530 spec it should work with ARM 720Mhz and C64x+ 520Mhz.

Since I'm using OMAP3530 EVM with Linux I wonder where in TI source files (DSPLINK ??) that control the clock speed? The GEL file doen't help me at this stage since I'm not using JTAG.

There is probably a basic Cristal CLK on the EVM that from it all the other clocks are drived. Do you know what is this Cristal CLK? (So I know how to change the DPLL)

Is there a way I can verify my changes in the clk by external means like a scope or should I hope it OK...

Are you using the PSP release on the EVM? If so, you can set the Cortex-A8 frequency to 720MHz via bootarg "mpurate=720" (PSP release 3.x onwards)

When kernel sets the A8 frequency, it scales the IVA2 frequency to corresponding OPP. This is reflected in the boot message as well.

I'm using OMAP35x-PSP-SDK-02.01.03.11

My default bootargs was mpurate=600. I changed it to 720 and in both cases I got the same result when I give dmesg command:

Clocking rate (Crystal/DPLL/MPU core): 26.0/332/500 MHz
IVA2 clocking rate: 360 MHz
