Hi All,

I am pretty new to this forum, and first-timer on ARM and OMAP processor/platforms. I decided to go with OMAP-L138 experimenter kit, and played with it for a day to find out followings:

- I can get to U-boot prompt, but boot command doesn't do anything. It appears from TI's video presentation, boot command without any preparation should have worked.

- I happened to try memory test command, and it gives me some error after a certain address. I don't know if this is expected or not.

- After installing CCS 3.3 that came with the board(downloaded ISO), I can't get JTAG connection between CCS and the DSP in it. For some reason, when I plugged in the USB cable for JTAG, my XP desktop failed to install the driver for it. For some reason, my desktop detected a 'PCI device' when the board was plugged in through the supplied USB cable. What device name should it be detected as when plugged in 1st time?

The NOTE on this page points that some kits might need some adjustments to be able to boot.

Can you make sure that you have connected to the correct USB? The OMA-L138 EVM board has more than one USB connector. Make sure that you are connected to the correct one. Please page 6, section 1.4 of the http://support.logicpd.com/downloads/1213/ It contains a picture of the board - connect to the the USB cable to the V connector described on the page.

Hi Mariana,

Thank you very much for your informative reply. I was able to connect to C674x core through JTAG on a different XP desktop which is not mine. I'll have to somehow make my desktop work with the XDS100 on the experimenter kit.

Regarding the boot, I seem to need a linux host that I don't have yet. I seem to have seen a link for linux distribution on this community site, but I can't find it now. Your guide or link to how to install Linux for the use with this L138 board would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
