USB0 OTG/HOST

Hi ,

Iam using OMAPL137 ,usb0 as a Host/OTG device , from the datasheet i understand that USB0_VBUS is an input to sence 5V ,But is it cumpolsary to provide 5V to USB0_VBUS for the Controller to work as HOST mode, when a self powered device is connected to the Host .

Hello Lokesh,

For host only mode of operation, it is mandatory to connect VBUS (5V) to USB0_VBUS pin even though a self powered device is connected to the host .

When the USB2.0 controller assumes the role of a host, it is tasked to source the required 5V supply via USB0_VBUS (must be at least ≥ 4.75V) pin.

If it does not see the power on the USB0_VBUS pin greater than Vbus valid (4.4V), it will generate an interrupt to the user indicating the existence of a problem.
