Hi All,
I am currently using a Gumstix DuoVero board with the OMAP4430 processor. I am using a Parlor (expansion) board with the DuoVero to utilize the ethernet connection to download packages, etc., but I have designed a custom board for the DuoVero that connects to an OV5640 camera module.
My main goal is to record video using the DuoVero on the custom board using Gstreamer, Gstreamer Ducati plugins, and the OMAP4ISS driver while running Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise).
Kernel History
- Basic Functionality - Using Kernel version 3.6.0 (based on Yocto 3.6.0 build for DuoVero), I can boot up the DuoVero running Ubuntu 12.04 Server on the Parlor board. The HDMI, ethernet port, USB, etc. are all working.
- Camera Interfacing - Using Kernel version Ubuntu-3.2.0-1451.71 (source here), I have been able to identify both the OMAP4ISS driver and the OV5640 camera module (based on inspecting dmesg log). Due to issues with installing the ducatih264enc and dri2videosink plugins, I wasn't able to record video.
Current Problem
Based on my problems in Step 2 above and the recommended installation of ubuntu-omap4-extras (based on TI OMAP Release PPA Update December 2012 instructions found here), I went back to running the 3.6.0 kernel to be able to download this package which includes the 3.4.0-1491-omap4 kernel.
I followed the instructions and the installation went smoothly up until the flash-kernel command.
Here is my problem - this package is for Pandaboard, but I am using the DuoVero. The key issue here is that the SD card detect signal is inverted for the DuoVero compared to the Pandaboard. If I install the provided 3.4.0-1491-omap4 kernel blindly, the DuoVero will not boot.
My question - Where or how can I download the source code for the 3.4.0-1491-omap4 kernel in order to patch (edit the /drivers/mfd/twl6030-irq.c file) the kernel image (uImage) to allow me to boot the 3.4.0-1491-omap4 kernel on the DuoVero?
I've tried the command $ sudo apt-get source linux-ti-omap4, but this does not download the full source code of the 3.4.0-1491-omap4 kernel.
I also downloaded linux-ti-omap4_3.4.0-1491.3.tar.gz (103.4 MiB) from https://launchpad.net/~tiomap-dev/+archive/ubuntu/omap-trunk/+packages under "Package Files" for linux-ti-omap4 - 3.4.0-1491.3 package. Then, I used the config file () from the /boot folder that was put there by installing the ubuntu-omap4-extras package to generate a uImage using cross compilation, but the board would not boot using this uImage. I'm not sure this is the correct source code though.
Another repository is dev.omapzoom.org/pub/scm/integration/kernel-ubuntu.git.
If anyone has any insight into how I can get the correct source code for this 3.4.0-1491-omap4 kernel in order to properly build and patch it for the DuoVero, I'd appreciate any input.
Thank you,
James
