Again, see section 24.4.8 Image Format.

In the case of XIP, to verify the image the boot ROM reads the first word (maybe the first two words...I cannot remember since I have not looked at this in a while). If the value is 0x00000000 or 0xffffffff it is assumed to not be a valid image.

Thank you for your help. I can find your information below on AM335x-TRM, but can not find it on AM3517-TRM. Can I think they have similar procedure for verification?

The detection of whether an image is present or not on a selected device depends on the first few bytes. On a GP Device type a booting image is considered to be present when the first four bytes of the sector is not equal to 0000 0000h or FFFF FFFFh.
