Design For Test specification

The AM335x Technical Reference Manual continuously says to either see or refer to the DFT spec.  Try as I might, I cannot find this specification, and there are NO details within the AM335x family of documents to define or provide this missing information.

Can anyone help refer me to the right place?  Or even email me a copy (crispen.scott@us.abb.com). It will be greatly appreciated.  This is one of the rare times that TI documentation has REALLY let me down.

Thanks,

Cris Scott

  • Hi Chris,

I suppose you are referring to the USB section in the TRM. The USB peripheral specification is available only under NDA as far as I know. If you need it please contact your local TI representative.

  • Yes, I am referring to the USB section of the TRM.  However, I assumed that DFT meant Design(ed) For Test, how does that require a NDA?  Maybe DFT doesn't mean what I thought in this case and maybe you could explain what DFT does stand for.  That would probably provide complete closure for me.

    Thanks

  • Hi Cris

The references to DFT throughout the TRM is a bit of a documentation escape, taking the design docs and integrating them into customer friendly/use-able formats.

We have submitted a documentation bug to have this cleaned up, but as you notice this is sprinkled throughout the documentation so will likely take some time.

DFT is for internal design/test purposes only, no plans to support this for external customers.

    Hope this helps some.
