AM335x McASP sync to systick / PTPv2 local clock

To generate a sample accurate audio clock in sync with other nodes in a Ethernet network structure, we would like to use the PTPv2 / IEEE1588 subsystem.

Every second would contain 48.000 samples. The first sample (word clock) must be in sync with the second tick of the local clock.

We have the PTPv2 part running under linux on the AM335x. As far as I could find, the McASP can only sync to external clocks or run freely on the internal clock.

What is possible tosync these two? Would external clock hardware or wiring be needed. What can be used as source?

In case one of the others Sitara's are better to use, we can consider it too.

Thanks in advance.
