DM36x mainline support

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand the contents of the page: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/DaVinci_GIT_Linux_Kernel

It has been several years since a DaVinci PSP was released with official support for the DM36x platform. It does seem that patches have been accepted into the kernel mainstream in the time since then. Who can share some status on DM36x support in the kernel mainline?

In other words: Is kernel 2.6.x still the recommended Linux version for the Davinci DM36x family?

Hi Scm,

DM36x series processors supports are very limited since it had been announced as obsolete.

If you want any support, please contact your local TI FAE.

In other words: Is kernel 2.6.x still the recommended Linux version for the Davinci DM36x family?

You can work with released TI SDK (I think 2.6.32) but I'm not sure for latest peripherals say e.g, USB 2.0( USB OTG) interface.

Could you state where & when the DM36x series was announced obsolete?

I've just checked the product-page for eg. DM365 and it is listed as "ACTIVE"?

Yes you are right.

This is not obsolete devices but it is announced as LEGACY processors.

DM36x series processors supports are very limited since it had been announced as LEGACY processors.

Right, so apart from that digression the original question still stands. Let me try to clarify:

I'm trying to figure out:

1) How much of the work sponsored by TI for DM36x has been brought into the Linux main kernel?

2) Has there been activity (bugfixes, feature-patches etc.) since the last official SDK release for the DM36x series?

Ultimately my goal is to establish:

Can I expect a recent mainline Linux-kernel to support DM36x or not?

No.

We've not tested DM36x with latest mainline and don't have plan too.

If you need any support then please approach your local TI FAE.

I'm aware the TI no longer officially supports, or maintains DM36x series Linux (Its been several years since last release).

But I've seen Linux 2.6.37 in a PSP release, not part of an SDK.

So please answer in more detail, what was the state of development, when support was stopped, I know work occurred after the 2.6.32 release, and would like that confirmed.
