c6657, Ethernet boot: timeout?

Hi,

we have a C6657 booting from Ethernet, connected through a switch to a microprocessor.

We observe that if the switch gets out of reset first, the C6657 boot is always successful.

But is the dsp is switched on when the Ethernet switch is still in reset, when the power on sequence is complete the host microprocessor receives the BOOTP packets from the dsp, but we're not able boot successfully.

What can be going wrong? Is there a timeout in the rom bootloader, or does it wait forever?

Hi Massimo,

Looks like RBL has timeout and retry count. The retry count is about 5 times. The timeout value is initially 4sec. On each retry it doubles the timeout value.

Hi Massimo,

RBL does timeout as Raja has mentioned in the above post so you will need to configure and rest the switch in that time frame. If you are using Ethernet as second stage boot then you can change the default timeout values.

Please refer to gauss.h and ethbpmain.c functions for default timeout and retry values and the implementation.
