M3-video hang when CPU load up, while recover when PCIe video connected



Hi, TIer

I'm using DM8168 with RDK3.0

In my usecase, there are 4 channels to be encoded:

1. Camera-0 channel, via Capture LINK,

2. PCIe video channel, via IPCFrameIn/Out LINK,

3. Swms-0 channel, the output of Swms LINK,

4. Swms-0 sub channel, the output of SwmsLINK----ScalarLINK,

M3-video core will pause outputing encoded stream when A8 load upto approximately 90%,

If the load drop down to a normal level, e.g 10-30%,

when PCIe channel disconnected, the core will keep the state,

when PCIe channel connected, the core will recover.

What causes this issue, and how to fix it?

    - Can you please modify the usecase with decreased DDR bandwidth and keeping A8 load remain the same 90% and see the issue still exist?

    - Can you please provide complete details ( usecase flow, resolution at all the stages,  fps, encoder bitrate etc.. ) of usecase?

    - Also Can you please share the log details from starting to recovered point?

    - How it is concluded that the the Encoder pauses outputing? Can you please verify A8 is running properly when the issue occurs?

    - Is the issue occurs only when the PCIe is used? Is the same issue observed when using any non-PCI input?

    - About conclusion that M3-video core pauses outputing bitstream

    A8 takes bitstream from M3-video via LINK IpcBitsInHLOS, using function IpcBitsInLink_getFullVideoBitStreamBufs, and if new bitstream buffer has been generated from M3-video, its callback function will be invoked.

    But currently, the callback function will never be invoked any longer once A8 load goes to high, and the subsequent procedure such as mp4 file writing, RTSP transmitting neither do work because of the pausing bitstream.

    So it can be conclued that M3-video core has been hanging

    - The relationship with PCIe

    If PCIe video is connected, M3-video can recover when A8 load goes down to a normal level,

    if PCIe video is disconnected, M3-video can NOT recover even if the load goes down;

    - I don't know exactly how to modify the usecase with decreased DDR bandwidth, e.g. reducing the framerate of the camera or the resolution of the channels respectively can do it?

        After PCIe video be connected, H264 bitstream recovers

        What can we conclude from these stat and buffer info, and how to solve this problem, pls offer me some advice for furthur checking

        According to the statistics log I uploaded above, after A8's load upto 90% approximately,

    - LINK esipcFramesOutVpssId0: responsible for outputing frames of single channels(not swms channel) from VPSS to DSP to add OSD, its input fps reduced to 0fps.

    - LINK esipcFramesOutVpssId1: responsible for outputing frames of swms0 channel from VPSS to DSP to add OSD, it works properly.

    - LINK esnsfId0: by pass mode.

      channel 0 be allocated for camera-0 channel(one single channel), input fps reduced to 0

      channel 1 be allocated for PCIe channel, not been enabled, so input fps is 0, this is normal

      channel 2,3 be allocated for Swms channel, its input fps be reduced to 0

      Process & OUTPUT fps of all channels reduced to 0fps

    What does these phenomenon imply?

    And how can we check next?
