AM335x Synchronous NAND

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352, AM3517

I have a customer asking of the AM3352 supports Synchronous NAND (Micron G08ABCBBH1-12IT:B).

I checked the forum postings and found the AM3517 does not.  I assume it is the same for the AM335x.  Additionally, I found in the AM335x TRM the following statements:

7.1.3.3.8.2.1 Supported Devices

The access protocol of each chip-select can be independently specified through the GPMC_CONFIG1_i[11-10] DEVICETYPE parameter for:

• Random-access synchronous or asynchronous memory like NOR flash, SRAM

NAND flash asynchronous devices

For more information about the NAND flash GPMC basic programming model and NAND support, see Section 7.1.3.3.12 and Section 7.1.3.3.12.1.

I think the answer is "no" it does not support synchronous NAND, but I would like for you to confirm this.

  • Hi Ignacio,

If the part number is MT29F16G08ABCBBH1-12IT:B, then this NAND is asynchronous/synchronous. It supports both modes and is ONFI-compliant, so should work with the AM335X. Otherwise yes, AM335X does not support synchronous NAND devices.

Please note that the Micron product page states that this device is "EOL pending".
