XDS510 USB emulator

Is it possible to debug ARM core with XDS510 USB emulator (14-pin), which is used for debugging the DSP core in DM6467?

Is it possible to debug ARM(with linux running) core with CCS? Or some other tool is required?

Please help me with a detailed description for both. Thanks in advance.

Regarding to the quesiton of XDS510 USB emulator, the answer is yes, it should be able to debug ARM core with CCS. But it seems that the XDS100 USB v1 will be very slow to work with ARM processors, and the v2 is recommended.

About the Linux awareness debug, I see someone has already answered.

Sorry, the previous answer is a mistake (I was talking about the XDS100 USB, instead of the XDS510 USB).

For the XDS510 USB emulator related question, the answer is YES, you can use it to debug ARM cores on TI's devices. But since the XDS510 USB emulator is not TI's product, you might need to download some CCS patch from the emulator provider's Website, and follow their instructions to install it.

Hi Wen,

I dont think the CCS patch is necessary for emulator based ARM core debugging. The XDS510USB emulator belongs to Spectrum Digital and their drivers are enough to debug ARM core in CCS. Atleast, I have worked on it and it has given me favourable results as far as ARM core debugging is concerned. I would like to know whether such a CCS patch would provide any advanced feature which I havent heard/seen before?
