What part is placed in K2HEVM?

Hello,
Here is photo of our K2HEVM board.
There are two prints. One is "66AK2H12", the other is "K2H14".

Which is true?

Best regards, RY

  • RY,

The official device number is just below the TI Symbol.  The one in the upper right is not an official device identifier, I'm not sure why it's on there, as it's not defined in out package top side symbol definition.

  • Chad-san,

    Thanks for your comment!

    My understanding is:
If 66AK2H14 is placed on my evm, we don't have to care of difference to evaluate 66AK2H12.
    Is that correct?

If kind of some S/W initialization is needed, please let me know.

    Best regards, RY

  • RY,

I'm going to do some checking, that said they are the same 'Die' the difference being is if the 10GBE w/ 3port switch is enabled.  You are correct in that this should be the 66AK2H14.

I'm checking as to why the top side symbols are different on the devices mounted on the EVM.

    Best Regards,

    Chad

  • Chad-san,

Thank you so much for your kind support.
if you get some informations about different symbol, please get back to me.

    Best regards, RY

  • RY,

Can you confirm if the EVMK2H or the EVMK2HX was ordered?  The EVMK2H would have the 66AK2H12 and only the EVMK2HX would have the 66AK2H14 in it.

The 10Gbe has some encryption support, that requires specific export controls to apply.  And in order to export to certain countries such as China specific paperwork needs to be in place as to its use.

    Best Regards,

    Chad

  • Chad-san,

We ordered EVMK2H. (I attached label photo before.)
And, can you tell me if 66AK2H14 needs some initialization to disable 10GbE?

    Best regards, RY

  • RY,

Ok, I spoke with the folks that did the EVM development and early builds.  Initially they were building K2H EVMs with both K2H12's and K2H14's.  Those built with K2H12's were the ones not supporting Encryption.  And the ones with K2H14's were the ones supporing Encryption.  Now, they're only producing the ones supporting Encryption, so they removed the ones with the K2H12's from the website.

Note that the X before the 66AK2H12AAW on the unit indicates it's a TMX device, also the build date of 10/29/13 corresponds to units that would have gotten TMX Si and was when we were producing EVMs with 66AK2H12.

The fact that the order from that time period was one that didn't have the X in the EVM order number indicates it was a non-encrypted EVM and should have gotten the 66AK2H12 device.

As for the symbol in the upper right hand corner, it's still a bit of a mystery.  TI normally does not put anything there, when it does it's usually a speed grade number.

Given that these were TMX units and not production TMS units, it's hard to say, but I'm still following up trying to figure out what that meant.

    Best Regards,

    Chad
