TMDXEVM3358 - Using 2 serial ports

Hi Dave,

We have checked the HW guide many times.  If my understanding is correct, It looks like UART4 may be accessible in Profile 2.  If We use Profile 2, will UART4 appear on J10 ?

The only other exposed UART is UART1 but that is connected to the wireless module I think.  Are those my only choices ?

In it you should see entries like "GP(UARTx)" in different profiles. According to the profile selected Linux should pinmux the appropriate pin functions automatically.

About UART1 you are correct.

Is it reasonable to assume this is done at the boot loader level, not by Linux itself ?

Any chance you can point us to the code that performs this function ? (reads profile configuration and program pins accordingly)

I do not think they are running Linux.  

Would the bare bones Starterware deal correctly with the Profile switch changes ?

Hi Dave,

yes this is done in u-boot.  You can see this code in board/ti/am335x/mux.c

Similar configuration can be found in Starterware in platform/evmAM335x in various peripheral c files.
