S43TR16128A-125KBL DDR3 memory on AM335x

Hi Support,

I'm designing a board with the AM335x, and want to use memories from Micron MT41J128M16JT-125

that have used in Am335x Starter Kit. but I do not found this chip in stoke at any store and get the cross reference from ISSI "IS43TR16128A-125KBLI". is this RAM can use with same configuration and connection as used in starter kit?

Have they been tested with this processor?

Hi Mohsin,

If the DDR is JEDEC compatible it should work with the AM335X.

i have checked the pin numbering all VSS and VCC pins are same but some data pin names are different, is this cause any problem?

No, the ISSI part can replace the Micron part. If you are unsure please post the differences you suspect.

Hi Usman,
Did u build the board with ddr3 part "IS43TR16128A-125K"?? Even we have built with same part due to obsolete of Micron part. Actually i got stuck at u-boot. Not sure the problem with DDR configuration. So i just want to know if u are ahead of us by completing booting of the board. If so, ur help will greatly resolve my problem and i can move on with next step.

Hi Biser,
Thanks for ur reply. I have very silly doubts as i'm begginer and I think u can clarify it. Since my board is similar to AM335x SK, im using the AM335x SK section of u-boot to boot my board. The DDR3 interfacing to processor is copied from AM335x starter kit. Since Micron part was obsolete i ve used IS43TR16128A-125K part. The part is similar to Micron part except some slight changes in AC timings tAA, tRCD, tRP, tRC.

So I verified my timing parameters and configured SDRAM_TIM_1, SDRAM_TIM_2 and SDRAM_TIM_3 registers in u-boot. I guess only this changes is enough. I din't perform Software levelling because my ddr3 interfacing to processor is copied from am335x starter kit and hence all parameters like clock frequency, PHY_INVERT_CLKOUT, DDR_CLK length, DDR_DQS lengths are same as starter kit.

Am I right?? Or somewhere i'm going wrong?? This answer may help me greatly.
