[OMAP-L138 secure] Where can I get secure LogicPD SOM ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138, OMAP-L138, OMAP-L137

Hi,

This is just quick question. I found secure LogicPD SOM was available on the market.

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Basic_Secure_Boot_for_OMAP-L138_C6748#FAQ

I googled this product, but I could not find the portal site for that.
Maybe it is not appropriate to ask such a question to e2e, but if you have any information about the sales network, it would be helpful. I'm now wondering if we could try secure boot with secure SOM...

Best Regards,
Kawada

  • Hi Kawada,

I think, LogicPD had stopped the production for the secure OMAPL138 EVM boards.

We are working on software part for providing the secure OMAPL138 LCDK boards.

  • Hi Titus S,

Thanks for your reply. Oh, really...

Please let me confirm one more thing. Did you mean TI was planing to release secure OMAP-L138 LCDK ? If so, do you know its release time frame (secure OMAP-L137 LCDK with fundamental tools for the secure boot) ?

    Best Regards,
    Kawada

  • Hi Kawada,

Actually just we started the secure software part for OMAPL138 LCDK board and I'm not sure for the secure OMAPL138 LCDK board release.

I will consult with appropriate team and we will let you know when I get confirmed information.

  • Hi Titus S,

Thanks! I wait for your replay to this thread.
Once I confirm the release time frame, I'll mark this post as a verified answer.

    Best Regards,
    Kawadsa

  • Hello,

    Any updates on this ?

    Best Regards,
    Kawada

  • Sorry to rush your reply. If you have any updates, please let us know.

No plans to release OMAPL138 LCDK with secure devices etc, for development. Limited quantity LogicPD SOMs were initially built with secure samples, but those SOMs all got used up. LogicPD is not planning to make any new somes.
The only development boards from TI for OMAPL138 are LCDKs, but there is no plan to have secure version of these boards. What currntly Titus has is for internal development/support.
In general the customer is expected to develop their on prototype/eval with secure devices.
If this is creating a challenge for the customer, please feel free to highlight the details to your local TI field team.

  • Hello Mukul,

Thanks for your reply. OK, understood.
Users don't know whether using secure device is very challenging or not on their target board. So if we could use a EVM with secure device to evaluate secure boot, I think it would be helpful to promote secured OMAP-L to the customers.
Actually, the customers sometimes want the security feature to their end products. We can promote secured OMAPL agressively If the secured EVM is existing and your strong support could be expected for that.

Let me ask one more thing.
There is some information about OMAP-L secure feature in :
    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Basic_Secure_Boot_for_OMAP-L138_C6748
    and
    TMS320C674x/OMAP-L1x Processor Security User's Guide

Is that all related documents ? Just following these documentations, can users realize secure boot *easily* ?

    Best Regards,
    Kawada
  • Hi Kawada-san

I understand the challenge, you are correct in saying that without an development platform for secure, it is difficult for customer to evaluate.

If this is a significant opportunity, please route the details on opportunity, end application and production dates to your local field team, so this can be routed to the business dev team (i will also forward this thread to them).

    >>Is that all related documents ? Just following these documentations, can users realize secure boot *easily* ?

Yes the wiki, along with the accompanying bundle of documentation and software is a good way for customer to develop. It is recommended that the customer use E2E forums if they are stuck at any point. Between Rahul and Titus the support for this offering is in good hands. "Easily" is a relative term, and will depend on end customer's level of diligence too. The forum team is here to help.

The customer also has the choice to take some OMAPL138 LCDK and re-work them with secure devices. Titus is working on having support for LCDK platform (as the previous software package was offered with LogicPD SOM in mind). So if customer reworks the LCDK with secure sample, the wiki bundle along with additional support software that Titus is developing can be a good alternative to jump start development.

  • Thanks, Mukul.

If we had significant opportunities to OMAPL 138, we will input the related information to your local FAE. Thanks.

The last option is very interesting for me, but re-working EVM can break HW. Some users may not like this option. Anyway, thanks for your suggestions.
