Any issues with not using the RTC and the associated clock crytstal?

We are not using the RTC on the DM365 and have therefore not supplied a clock xtal and are not turning any of the related circuitry on.

I am now worried because on the ST40 micro that we used in the past, we had a problem because the RTC logic was used to control interrupt latching…a link they forgot to mention in the data sheet.

Is not having the RTC going to affect any parts of the device I am using and am I going to have any unforeseen issues of this type by not using the RTC on the DM365?

  • Peter,

The PRTCSS is not used to control system interrupt latching in DM365 (only for sending PRTCSS specific interrupts. It is important however to keep the PRTCSS power domains on wheather you are using the any of the PRTCSS functional modules or not.  Primarily to maintain the functionality of the PWRCNTON/PWRST pins which are used to determine if DM365 reset/power cycling will be controlled by an external device.  (as referenced in the PRTCSS Reference Guide http://www.ti.com/litv/pdf/sprufj0a, section 1.4.2)

    regards,
