Hi,

I have questions about AM335x PRU.

1.Is it possible to change the industrial communication protocol dynamically?
For example, change from EtherCAT slave to Profibus.

2.Is industrial communication protocol software-driven which runs on PRU ?

Hi g.f,

I'm not an expert but I think you need to replace at least the PRU firmware to change the protocol. I don't know if higher level SW running on the ARM would also need to be replaced.

These are two different applications. Not sure what you are trying to achieve here

All protocols available in ISDK runs on a combination of PRU and ARM software.

Thank you for the reply and I'm sorry for the delay.

Actually this questions was from my customer.

Yes, I understand that it is two different applications.
Right now I don't know what they are trying to achieve, sorry.
For now, they just want to know that changing the protocol dynamically
is possible or it's not.

Hello,

If it's switching between applications, it should be possible. Customer can add some restart code where it restarts the board with a new app.
