uPP interface to PC host

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC900, TMS320F28374S, OMAPL138

Hi,

I am just wondering what would be the best way to connect uPP interface to a PC.

In particular, if I want to receive samples from an ADC (with uPP interface) to a PC through USB or etc, is there any interface device which I can connect and use?

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Hi Omid,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages (for processor issues). Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others may have asked on similar topics (e2e.ti.com).

    Welcome to the Keystone Forum!

This forum is for issues with keystone devices its peripherals as well as any SDK used on keystone platforms, including:

    1. MCSDK (Multicore Software Development Kit)
    2. Desktop Linux SDK
    3. MCSDK Video

When asking a question, please include:

Which version of MCSDK you are using
Which processor and board platform (EVM & its revision) you are using
If relevant, the version of your components
If relevant, which version of the compiler and Code Composer Studio you are using
If the issue happens with a specific API, please provide the source code used
If the issue happens at run-time, please provide a detailed description of the problem and the expected behavior.
Provide attach relevant Message Log or Kernel/Object View debug info or screen captures of the real time analysis tools.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

  • Hi Omid,

Could you please mention the device part number to help you?

    Thank you.

  • Omid,

This wiki will be useful for UPP,

  • Thanks a lot for the responses.

If I want to connect a ADC/DAC (such as DAC900) to a PC using uPP interface, what would be the best micro-controller or any other chip?

I found out "TMS320F28374S" has uPP interface, is there any other chip as well to do this job?

Once again, thanks a lot for your help.

    Regards,

    Omid

  • Hello Omid,

I would suggest you to use OMAPL138/C6748 processor for your application. Both the devices has uPP interface and you can have an option to select any one of them. OMAPL138 is ARM+DSP processor where as C6748 is only DSP.

Please find the uPP user guide in the below link.

  • Hi Senthil,

Thank you so much for the reply.

Can you please let me know what is the reason that you are suggesting to use those DSP/ Processor instead of a micro-controller (such as Delfino Micro-controller)?

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Omid

  • Hello Omid,

Since you posted your query in DSP forum, you could expect recommendations on DSP processors only.

Yes, you can use Delfino microcontroller, if it has uPP interface and other peripherals that meets your requirement. I would suggest you to post your query on Delfino microcontroller in respective forum. Every device has its own forum support.

    Thanks for your understanding.
