SATA - link down

Guru 20755 points

Hello,

We encounter issue when connecting SATA to DM8148 custom board, in which we sometimes ( ~1 to 6-10 reset) get link down after reset for the sata connection. trying to reset the sata does not help. we are using sata gen 3. Is there a known issue with sata ? What can we do ?

Thanks,

Ran

What is the silicon revision of your DM814x device?

We have silicon bug for DM814x PG2.1 and earlier devices, see DM814x Silicon errata:

Advisory 2.1.28  SATA: Link Establishment Fails With SATA GEN3 Capable Targets

    Revision(s) Affected:  2.1

Details:  When connecting a SATA GEN3 capable target, for example a Hard Disk Drive (HDD), to a device with a SATA Host Subsystem (after power-up or reset) the speed negotiation fails between the two devices and no link is established.
