About the Input Clock measurement

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: 66AK2H12

Hi,

My customer is trying to check the input differential clock source.
They make sure whether the clocks to meet the specified of Table 10-29 in 66AK2H12 data manual.

There are two types of jitter spec:
  - one is "jitter, peak_to_peak_periodic XXX", it seems single end signal spec.
  - other is "Jitter, RMS XXX", it seems differencial signal spec.

To check the both jitter, they are considering to measure the period of "5" in Figure 10-21.

Question)
Is that availble method to check both signals?

Best regards,
H.U

  • Hello H.U,

Both Pk to Pk jitter and RMS jitter specified as single ended only.

    Question)
Is that availble method to check both signals?

Yes, the period '5' is applicable for both the measurements. For more understanding about this, please refer clocking section in KS2 Hardware Design Guide SPRABV0.

  • Hi H.U.

There are many good articles about jitter and jitter measurement available from a number of sources. I've attached three below.
