Question on debug M3 hang

Platform: DM8168

Issue Description: M3Video hang. Ctm find there is no response from M3 video. But there is no abnormal prints. By connecting JTAG, they find the PC pointer points to abort(), ctm believe that it is not where it hangs.

Ctm also tried to use M3 debug binary and tried to debug w/ CCS, but there is too much print so emulator/CCS is abnormal before the M3 video hang issue is reproduced.

Ctm noticed that we have Utils_execp_trace.c, there are some functions might be useful to debug M3 but dont know how to use. Could you let us know for such case do we have debug method, if so, could you give us a hand, for example provide a example of using the Utils_execp_trace ?

Could you also comment that for such case how can we debug M3?

Hi Eason,

I need a little information. Are you running BIOS on the M3Video? If so what version. How are you loading the application? What is CTM?

Hi,

Sorry I forgot to mention that customer is using DVRRDK software on DM816x, so they are running SYSBIOS on M3video. BIOS version is 6_33_05_46

The M3Video firmware is loaded by arm cortexA8.

The ctm is Dahua, who is top2 video surveilliance ctm in China .

When they connect to the M3, have they looked in Tools->ROV to see the state of the system. They can do a "scan for errors" in the BIOS tab in ROV.

They can look in the Hwi->Exceptions to see if there was an exception. They can refer to this page for details on how to use the information in the exception dump: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/SYS/BIOS_FAQs#4_Exception_Dump_Decoding_Using_the_CCS_Register_View
