EDMA3 Resource Manager purpose

This may seem like a basic question, but what exactly is the purpose of the EDMA3 Resource Manager and do I need to use it? This is my first experience with the EDMA3 device and it seems pretty complex so I want to keep the effort required to a reasonable level. After reading the documentation on the LLD for EDMA3 it seems I can use it directly, but I've also read the Resource Manager Users Guide and don't really see why I need it.

Also, point me to whatever documents and sample you feel can get me a good start. I only have the ones that came with the dvsdk.

Could we get a little more detail on what EDMA3 Resource Manager you are referring to ?

The only one I have is in a directory named C:\CCStudio_v3.3\dvsdk_1_01_00_15\psp_1_00_02_00\edma3\src\edma3_rm\docs. I have a 6437 and am using BIOS 5.32.04.

I'll let someone from PSP respond to this query but the EDMA3 Low Level Driver also has an internal component called the EDMA3 resource manager that you can use independently or via the EDMA3 Low Level Driver.

Im not sure if you can confirm if this is that same RM..
