Sitara Processor Bring Up

I am rtrying to bring up my development board which I designed using a Sitara processor and the TPS65217b PMIC. When I give power to the board, the PMIC comes up for 50 ms, and then shuts off. It repeats this every 7.5 seconds. The micro seems to not be running, because I can see no data on UART 0. Is this normal? What do I need to do to get the system out of this mode? My design is exectly the same as the Beagle board reference design.

Hi Dorris,

Check the state of the PMIC_POWR_EN signal, and also the PMIC_PGOOD and LDO_PGOOD signals. The last two are the power-on reset and RTC power-on reset signals to the processor. They should transition from low to high during startup, and then the PMIC_POWR_EN signal should go high to keep the PMIC in active state.

Is this the case at initial bring up whith no code. Is the small boot code inside the micro enough to set the PWR_EN pin? Is the 50 ms the PMIC is on enough time to kick start the micro? Let me know.

Yes, this is correct. The processor should start trying the boot sources selected by the SYSBOOT pins. If there is no valid boot source it will cycle through all again and again. PMIC power should not cycle.
