AM335x EHCI

Are the Mentor musbmhdrc USB controllers on the AM335x SOC EHCI compliant? If so, what is the physical base address of the EHCI capability register?

An older post on this forum mentions that the AM335x has neither a EHCI or OHCI controller, but the phyCORE-AM335x documentation indicates that it does indeed embed an EHCI controller. In addition, various Linux distros claim to support EHCI on the AM335x and list the physical EHCI base address as 0x48064800.

These contradicting sources have left me unsure. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

The AM335X USB subsystem is built-around an OTG controller, not Host. The address you list lies in a reserved memory area for AM335X (0x48062000 to 0x4807FFFF, see Table 2-3 in the AM335X TRM Rev. K).

Thank you for the prompt reply. Based on your response, is it correct to assume that the AM335x OTG controller (even when in host mode) does not support either the EHCI or OHCI specifications?

That is correct. The Mentor musbmhdrc USB OTG controller is not EHCI or OHCI compliant.
