Linux SDK installation in Ubuntu14

Hi Experts,

The Linux SDK versions are only installable in Ubuntu 12 and 10. Near future any possibility for the support in Ubuntu 14 or is still there is any way to do it ?

What is the reason behind not supporting for Ubuntu 14 ?

  • Ubuntu14.04 LTS was released APRIL 2014 and TI SDK7 version was released on MARCH 2014.
Actually we will test the SDK with newer standard ubuntu LTS version.

Which SDK version are your trying to install on ubuntu14.04 LTS ?
What error you got while you install ?
  • Hi Titus,

The setup-host-check.sh script in the ./bin directory is looking for the Ubuntu version to be 10.04 or 12.04. Since I'm running 14.04, this check fails.

  • Always we recommend to use the tested environment setup ie ubuntu12.04 LTS else it will be under your own risk.

    Anyway,
I haven't tried to "setup-host-check.sh" but I used install directly like below and got succeed.

You can also modify the "setup-host-check.sh" script to support ubuntu14.04.

    ti@ti-e2e:~/titus$ chmod 777 ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00-Linux-x86-Install.bin
    ti@ti-e2e:~/titus$
    ti@ti-e2e:~/titus$
    ti@ti-e2e:~/titus$ ./ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00-Linux-x86-Install.bin
    ti@ti-e2e:~/titus$ cd ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00
    ti@ti-e2e:~/titus/ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00$
    ti@ti-e2e:~/titus/ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00$ uname -a

    ti@ti-e2e:~/titus/ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00$ ls

    Note:
I'm using 64bit ubuntu14.04 LTS and I've followed the below TI wiki.

  • HI lyf sci,

The recommended versions are Ubuntu 10.04 LTS or Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

It is not that you cannot use the latest version, 14.04. You can give it a try by going through the script file and modify it accordingly and also it would be helpful to the community if you are able to dod so.

We are not sure when will be the next release of LINUX SDK happen as it depends on lot of factors like number of bugs reported in Linux SDK e.t.c.

    Regards,
    Shankari
