Hi!

I'm testing tmdsipcam388imx136

I try to repeat measurements according to IPNC_RDK_InstallGuide.pdf. Firware is ubifs_ipnc_low_power (also try full future ) from IPNC_RDK_V3.8.0 (dir: Binaries/DM388/Rev2/nand/IMX136_Appro).

Using VLC Player 2.0.3 (and others) on Win7(x64) Best result: 320 ms End-To-End Latency (more often = 400 ms).

If I use iexplorer activeX player (GoDB IPNCWebDlls.CAB) best result is 160 ms (more often = 200 ms) (at other equal conditions). According to pdf, result must be 141 ms on VLC player. Camera setups: VNF_SPEED SINGLESTREAM SINGLE_H264 APPRO2A AEWB 1080P_D1 H264 HIGH_SPEED1.

Where is mistake?

The picture in pdf don't look like a vlc player

Hello,

I am not familiar with IPNC but according with the user guide the VLC media player version should be 2.0.5 or higher . You could check software and hardware requirements when the WIndows and Linux PC is used.

In different pages of this pdf-file is specified different versions of VLC-player. (version 2.0.3 in page 3-49 ). In IPNC_RDK_InstallGuide.pdf : page 1-5: version 2.0.8 , page 3-48 : version 2.0.3. But I checked most versions (up to version 2.1.4). The result is identical. Hardware for testing is very fast.

and I am confused by screenshot in this pdf-file (it isn't similar to a VLC-player)

In IPNC_RDK_InstallGuide.pdf : page 3-54 (top screenshot) (status bar in VLC-player looks like in a different way)

Hello,

It is VLC but before to choose Overlay video output option you should press "reset preferences" button and the Overlay video output option will show up.

Yes, I pressed the "reset preferences" button according to the instruction. By the way "Overlay video output" option is set ON by default.

I've checked many versions VLC players and have found which version is shown in pdf: It is version 0.8.x

This old version can not decode h264 (from dm388 camera). And in screenshot you can't see receiving address as shown above rtsp://<ip address>:8557/PSIA/Streaming/channels/2?videoCodecType=H.264 (most likely there are word "mpeg" )

To be fair, VLC version 1.1.10 showed better result (end-to-end latency =240 ms)

The best result have shown gstreamer player (=170ms).
