Linux real-time timing - DM8127, IPNC_RDK 3.8

Hello,

I understand that Linux is not reliable when it comes to RT timing.

How can I harness the DSP (C674x) to provide an exact timer?

It was suggested that the Aptina sensor should be used as a "clock" since it outputs at exactly the same rate frames (60fps or 30fps or 20fps, etc.) all the time and is the most reliable "clock" on the system. This can be problematic if the exposure goes up (for dark environments) and the frame rate slows down.

I find it hard to believe that in a TI embedded environment, I have to rely on Aptina's sensor for exact timing.

I'd appreciate any input for building a "real" RT clock using the DSP's clock.

Thanks,

Mechi
