problem with OMAP-L138 / C6748 EMIF-A documentation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138

Hello, I'm designing a ultrasound signal acquisition board to work with a OMAP-L138 processor, and I encountered a problem with the documentation available on the produtc's website.

Checking the EMIFA terminal functions on the product datasheet I can see that there is a terminal named "EMA_A_R W / GP3[9]", but when I try to find this terminal on the EMIFA User's Guide for this processor family, I can't. I believe that this pin would be very useful on my application.

Could anybody please help me find extra information on this?

Thank you very much.

  • Rafael,

The R/W pin stays high during reads and low during writes (same duration as CS).  It's omission from the timing diagrams in the data sheet and the user guide is an oversight and is being addressed.

  • Thank you, Gus.

I found the documentation on the TMS320C642x DSP Asynchronous External Memory Interface to be very helpful.

Apparently both the TMS320C642xand the OMAP-L138 share the same Asynchronous interface structure.

Thank you again, I hope this issue will be corrected on the official documentation soon, as I always admired Texas Instruments' focus in providing complete documentation for it's products.

    Regards,

    Rafael
